“High Jump Chicago” met with Whittier’s 5th and 6th grade students
This March a presentor from the “High Jump Chicago” met with Whittier’s 5th and 6th grade students. Michele McCallum shared about the opportunities for academic enrichment and success that “High Jump” provides. Students and teachers asked questions and listened attentively to Ms. Mccallum. Admission to “High Jump” is highly selective. To be admitted students must score well on standardized tests, earn excellent grades, and provide recommendations from teachers. This year’s 6th graders are eligible to apply.
Following is a brief description of the program from High Jump’s website:
“Selected students participate in a rigorous two and one-half year course of study on Saturdays and daily during summer sessions during their 7th and 8th grade year. The hallmark of the High Jump experience is a course of study that builds academic and social skills, fosters self-confidence and independent thinking and provides critical information about future educational choices.”
